The Call to Share the Gospel

Many believe that church is merely a Sunday event, but it's so much more. The church is a movement of people transformed by Jesus Christ. It's about gathering in His name and experiencing His presence together. If you're new to faith or exploring Christianity, know that church is an invitation to witness the miraculous work of God in our lives.

In the early church, there were two distinct groups: those who came to sit and those who went to tell. Newcomers were welcomed to sit and experience Jesus among His followers. However, the spread of the gospel depended on the latter group, those who actively shared their faith. If you know Jesus, your mission is to go and tell others about Him.

Jesus' command to His disciples in Matthew 28:19-20, known as the Great Commission, is clear. We are to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey His commands. This mission isn't just for a select few; it's the calling of every believer.

Acts 1:8 promises that we will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon us. This power enables us to be witnesses for Christ wherever we go. The Holy Spirit is not just for spiritual experiences but is given to empower us to live out God's commands and share His love with others.

Matthew 5:14 reminds us that we are the light of the world. Our lives should reflect Christ's love and truth, drawing others to glorify God. It's not about us; it's about pointing others to Jesus through our actions and words.

Romans 10:14-15 highlights the necessity of sharing the gospel. People cannot believe in Jesus if they haven't heard about Him, and they can't hear without someone telling them. Don't let fear or feelings of inadequacy stop you. You have the message and the power of the Holy Spirit within you.

This week, challenge yourself to live out the mission. Share the love of Jesus with someone. It doesn't have to be a grand gesture; it can be as simple as a conversation, an act of kindness, or sharing your personal testimony. Ask yourself:

- How can I reflect Jesus' love to those around me this week?

- Who in my life needs to hear about the hope found in Christ?

- Am I willing to step out in faith and share the gospel, trusting the Holy Spirit to empower me?

Remember, the mission is to help people know and follow Jesus. The method is to live the gospel, tell the gospel, and teach others to follow Him. And the power? It comes from the Holy Spirit, who equips us for every good work. Let's go forth and be the church every day of the week.
