God Isn't Finished With You Yet

It is easy to look at your life and feel like something is incomplete. Maybe you are in a season of waiting, struggling with doubt, or wondering if God is even paying attention. The truth is simple but powerful: unfinished does not mean abandoned. God is still at work, and He is not done with you yet.

What Does It Mean That God Isn't Finished With You?

Think about a construction site. If you drive by each day, the building looks different. Some days it seems like nothing has changed. But the builder knows exactly what is happening. Every board, every nail, every wire has a purpose.

That is how God works in our lives. Sometimes we look at our situation and think it does not look finished. And God says, "I know, because I am still working."

Following Jesus is not about arriving somewhere. It is about becoming. It is about letting God shape you, refine you, and make you more like Christ every single day.

What Does the Bible Say About God Completing His Work in Us?

One of the most encouraging verses in Scripture comes from the Apostle Paul:

"And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." - Philippians 1:6

Paul does not say he hopes God will finish. He says he is sure. His confidence is not in himself. It is in God. Notice who begins the work. God does. Notice who finishes the work. God does.

Salvation begins because of God's grace. Growth happens because of His Spirit. And one day we will stand before Him because of His faithfulness.

Does Being in Church Make You a Christian?

Growing up in church, attending every Sunday, even going to a Christian school does not make someone a follower of Christ. Being in a building does not save you. Church attendance does not save you. Growing up in a Christian home does not save you.

There comes a moment when every person has to ask one question: what will I do with Jesus?

That personal decision is where everything changes. And when it happens, it is not the end of your story. It is the beginning of God's ongoing work in your life.

How Do You Trust God When Life Is Hard?

Trusting God is easy when the bills are paid, everyone is healthy, and life seems to fall into place. But real trust is revealed when life becomes uncertain. When you are waiting. When you are praying and the answer has not come yet.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says it clearly:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." - Proverbs 3:5-6

Solomon does not say trust God when it makes sense. He says trust Him with all your heart and stop leaning on your own understanding. That is hard because most of us want to know the entire plan before we take a step.

But faith means taking the next step before you can see the whole staircase.

Does God Provide Even When You Cannot See How?

God does not always provide in the ways we expect. Sometimes it comes through an unexpected opportunity. Sometimes through the generosity of others. Sometimes He gives us exactly what we need for that one day, not for the whole week.

Just like He gave Israel manna in the wilderness, He only gave them enough for one day. They had to come back to Him again the next morning. God sometimes lets us live one day at a time because He wants us to depend on Him.

Jesus addressed this directly:

"Therefore do not be anxious, saying, what shall we eat? Or what shall we drink? Or what shall we wear? For your Heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself." - Matthew 6:31-34

Before a bill arrives, He knows it is coming. Before a diagnosis, He already knows. Before the burden ever reaches your shoulders, it has already passed through His hands.

Peace does not come from knowing all the answers. Peace only comes from knowing the One who does.

What Is the Difference Between Trusting God and Depending on God?

These two things sound similar but they are not the same.

• Trust is believing that God will do what He promised.
• Dependence is recognizing that you cannot do what He has called you to do without Him.

Many of us are comfortable trusting God for eternity. We trust Him to save us, to forgive us, to prepare a place for us in heaven. But we are not always as quick to depend on Him in our everyday lives. We still try to carry burdens ourselves. We rely on our own strength, our own wisdom, our own experience.

Jesus made this clear in John 15:

"Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing." - John 15:4-5

He is not saying we cannot accomplish things. He is saying we cannot accomplish anything with eternal value apart from Him.

And here is the freeing part. We are not responsible for the results. We are responsible for being faithful to what God has called us to do. God gives the growth.

"I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth." - 1 Corinthians 3:6-7

Why Is It Important to Be Present in the Season You Are In?

It is easy to spend your whole life thinking about what is next. The next job, the next opportunity, the next goal. And before you know it, another year has passed. Your children have grown. Your parents have gotten older. And you realize you spent so much time preparing for tomorrow that you missed the gift of today.

Moses wrote this in Psalm 90:

"So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom." - Psalm 90:12

It is not just about counting how many days we have. It is about making every day count.

Think about Jesus. No one in history had a greater mission. He knew He had only about three years of public ministry and shouldered the weight of the world's salvation. Yet throughout the Gospels, you rarely find Him in a hurry. He stopped for blind beggars. He noticed children that others ignored. He had conversations with people others walked past. He was fully present wherever the Father had Him.

Paul echoes this in Ephesians:

"Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time because the days are evil." - Ephesians 5:15-16

Do not waste time. Do not wish time away. Do not always wait for the next season. Be faithful in the one God has given you right now.

What Is God's Ultimate Purpose for Your Life?

God's goal is not simply to make your life comfortable. His purpose is to conform you to the image of His Son.

"And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son." - Romans 8:28-29

We often quote verse 28 and stop there. But verse 29 tells us the why. Everything God allows in your life, every closed door, every season of waiting, every disappointment, every victory, is a tool in the hands of a faithful God shaping you into someone who looks more like Jesus.

The goal of the Christian life is not simply to know more about Jesus. The goal is to become more like Him.

What If You Feel Like Your Best Days Are Behind You?

God was not finished with Abraham. He was not finished with Moses. He was not finished with David after his failures. He was not finished with Peter after he denied Jesus three times. He was not finished with Paul after he spent years persecuting Christians.

And He is not finished with you.

As long as God is still giving you breath, He still has a purpose for your life. Your story is not over.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, He is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come." - 2 Corinthians 5:17

Life Application

This week, choose one area of your life where you have been trying to carry the weight on your own. Maybe it is a financial worry, a relationship, a responsibility at work, or a burden you have been holding onto for months. Bring it to God in prayer before you try to solve it yourself. Practice depending on Him, not just trusting Him in theory.

Also, identify one person in your life who deserves more of your presence. A spouse, a child, a friend, a parent. Choose to be fully there with them this week, not distracted, not mentally somewhere else.

Ask yourself these questions as you reflect:

• Where in my life am I leaning on my own understanding instead of trusting God?
• Am I so focused on what is next that I am missing what God is doing right now?
• Who in my life deserves more of my attention and presence?
• Do I truly believe that God is still at work in me, even in this season?

No matter what season you are in today, remember this: unfinished does not mean abandoned. God began a good work in you, and He will bring it to completion.
